Welcome to InternetMacMarketing.com. This site is intended to provide
assistance, instruction
and resources for Internet marketers who prefer to use Macintosh.
Why
Macintosh for Internet marketing? For the same reason that millions of
people prefer using a Macintosh for web browsing, desktop publishing,
listening to music, creating artwork, viewing entertainment, creating
music, managing
photos and a
thousand other things. Macintosh
offers a unique user experience and an ease of use, smoothness and
sophistication unparalleled by any other operating system.
Unfortunately,
the Mac is the "forgotten stepchild" of the Internet marketing
industry. Let's face it: the Windows PC has dominance, and that is why
you will find marketing gurus everywhere offering PC-based advice
completely oblivious to the fact that Macintosh even exists. I founded
this site because I was fed up by all the PC-centric information.
For
example, I once bought a very popular course on Internet marketing
which was widely lauded by all reviewers (in large part because the
course offered a generous affiliate commission). When I received the
course I was dismayed to find that a major "upsell" offered in the
course was for a PC-only software program. In fact, the course
went so far as to imply that the software was virtually essential for
anyone who wanted to succeed at Internet marketing. If this was a case,
I wondered, then why not just sell the software and forget the
course, or throw it in as a bonus?
Mac users are often thought of as arrogant
snobs who look down on users of other platforms, but PC users can be
just as arrogant and snobbish, if not more so. The author of one
course, totally unrelated to Internet marketing, practically urged his
readers to buy a PC if they were currently using Macs and were serious
about running a business. He claimed that (unlike thousands of people
who have switched from PC to Macs) he did the reverse and was thrilled
with his decision. Why he thought it was necessary to offend a certain
percentage of the readers of his course I don't know.
I,
like many other Mac users, have worked with PC users who have taken
every opportunity they could to bash the Mac. Even conversations that
have absolutely nothing to do with computers had to be turned into a
subtle dig against Macintosh.
One woman in a mixed
platform company at
which I once worked (who unfortunately happened to be my boss) would
always utter in annoyed tones "Those Macs!" whenever we had a normal
computer-based problem. She would put down the Mac at every
opportunity.True, Macs are far from perfect, but the same woman would
overlook office problems that were caused by PCs.
If you more examples
of the way PC users put down Macs (although if you been
around PC weenies for any length of time at all, you won't need any)
get a copy of Macintosh...
the Naked Truth
by Scott Kelby on the used book market. My favorite chapter is "'I
can't believe you actually use a Macintosh!' and other stupid things PC
users say."
So
who am I? My name is Timothy Arends, and I
am the webmaster of
InternetMacMarketing.com. I have been a
user of Macs myself since 1994 (I started out on a humble Performa 476)
and I
have helped purchase, install, and maintain and troubleshoot
Macintoshes and Mac networks for business for several years. I have
sold and demonstrated Macs at a major retail chain and I have been a
Mac user group ambassador, newsletter editor, and program director for
over ten years. I've written about Macs and Mac software for national
magazines. Currently, I run my business exclusively using Macintosh.
It
is my hope and goal that I can help you find Mac compatible software
for virtually every Internet marketing related task you find yourself
engaged in. If you have any questions or you see something you would
like the site to cover, feel free to drop me a line at
tim@internetmacmarketing.com.
